I am Cathy Baxter and this blog is about my science specialty and a few other things that I find important in the science world. I am a geneticist so I work all day with everything to do with DNA. To me, it is the most interesting element of our bodies because it is how we pass on our genes throughout time. Basically looking at a mirror is similar to looking at a time capsule.
I am looking forward to writing about everything I love about science to all you wonderful keen-minded people!
The other topics I will be concentrating on are health and safety and the environment. Since Covid-19 health and safety have become one of the top priorities for everyone which is why I think it is so important to talk about this on my blog.
Another topic will be the environment, which I don’t think I need to explain is super important. Our future on the Earth depends on how well we deal with the climate crisis now with some people thinking it is already too late! So get reading and educate yourself so you can make the big changes in the world!
A little bit more about me is that I earned my degree in Biology from Berkeley University and I later earned a Ph.D. in geneticism. Since I have been working in a lab in California researching and developing the movement in genetics. After work, I spend the evening with my husband usually with a pizza, beer, and binge-watching a series all evening, which is my favorite thing to do!
We are both very low-key and we don’t really like going out, plus we have the dogs to entertain us so I can’t think of a better way to live our lives. It was actually my husband’s suggestion to start this blog as he thought it would be a great way to spread some factual information to inform people on some of the important and interesting things to do with science. So grab your thinking caps and let’s get going!
