How to Practice Safe Sex?

April 9, 2022May 25, 2022 by Cathy Baxter

Sex. It’s a hot-button topic these days, and while everyone has an opinion, one thing is for sure: it’s an important part of life. Safe sex, on the other hand, is not: the sad fact is that more than half of all sexually active adults have some form of STI, and while some types of STIs are easily treatable, others can leave you barren. To avoid contracting or transmitting an STI, the best way to stay safe is to practice safe sex.

From teens to seniors, men and women who indulge themselves in sexual activity, be it masturbating (by visiting https://www.livefreecams.com) or engaging in intercourse, it is prudent to know the risks associated with sex. For men, HIV is the biggest concern. The CDC or Centers for Disease Control and Prevention approximates that nearly one in six new HIV cases in America in 2015 were among men. With all this risk at stake, you should take proper precautions during sex.

Sex can be super exciting, but it’s important to stay safe. Thanks to the internet, there are avenues that people can explore, be it just dating apps or for casual hook-ups on websites similar to SexDatingApps.com. But this proves that there is all the more need for education about safe sex and its practices. There’s lots of information out there on this topic, but how much do you really know about it? The CDC says that about 11 million new STIs or sexually transmitted infections occur annually in the U.S. alone, and about 1 in 6 people in America contract an STI at some point in their lives.

No matter where you are or what you’re doing, you should be using some sort of protection. In today’s society, with 1 in 3 sexually active young adults struggling with an unwanted pregnancy, using condoms when sexually active is unrealistic. So, what about alternative forms of contraceptives? There are many types of birth control, and which you choose depends on what works for you and your partner.

Use contraception

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that 20 percent of Americans between the ages of 15 and 44 are sexually active, and 42 percent of those younger than 25 have never used a condom. These numbers indicate a need for investment in comprehensive sexual education programs for high school students and young adults. According to a 2015 report, Americans aged 15 to 44 are less likely to use contraception than people in other developed countries, and more than half of sexually active American women use contraception inconsistently. That inconsistency, combined with high abortion rates, makes the United States one of the least-healthy countries regarding sexual and reproductive health.

Using a hormonal contraceptive method is the surest way to lower your risk of pregnancy, and there are several types of contraceptives available to you. You can rely on a hormonal contraceptive method like a pill, patch, ring, or injection, or you can combine these methods with barrier methods like a condom or spermicide. These methods may or may not work. If at all you get pregnant despite using these contraceptive methods, you may need help regarding the next step. It’s natural to not know what to do when something unexpected like this happens, which is why it may be a good idea to visit an abortion clinic in jackson ms or wherever you’re based, to seek the help you need and make a decision along with your partner.

Communicate with your partner

Sex is a beautiful thing. It makes you feel good, and if you are with someone you trust, it can even make the world seem a little less scary. But there are risks involved with any kind of sexual activity. Even if you are planning to use the best sex machine available out there while having sex, if you don’t take the necessary hygienic measures or use it the right way, you could be susceptible to diseases and other health concerns. And while your partner may care about your well-being, their actions may not always reflect that concern. Communicating with them can help ensure that both of you are on the same page when it comes to preventing STIs, unwanted pregnancy, and other potentially risky situations.

Communication is the key to any relationship, and that includes sexual communication. Being aware of your partner’s feelings and needs during sex and knowing how to respond accordingly helps strengthen your bond and your sexual connection. Practice Safe Sex shows couples how to communicate more effectively during sex.
